Letter from the Mission

We received an email from Sister Palmer, Ethan's mission president's wife, about the state of the mission right now.  There were some interesting things I thought I would share. 1. As of today, and as far as they know, there hasn't been one mission contract COVID in their mission.  Some have been exposed but no one has been sick.  Modify church meetings have resumed.  Ethan has Church at the actual Church building every 3 weeks.  The other weeks they either do Church in their apartment or, if the sisters need the sacrament, they will get together as a District. 2. The Fort Collins Temple is going into Phase 2 on August 31st.  They have a lot of missionaries in the mission who need to take out their endowments.  In the next 3-4 weeks, the mission president will notify the parents and missionary as to the plans for them to attend the temple.  We are excited about this one and so is Ethan. 3. They have 225 missionaries in their mission with another 3...

Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing good. I'm doing pretty good myself. We had exchanges with the zone leaders yesterday that went pretty well. We went into Fort Collins because the zls are in the YSA ward. It was cool to see so many people there because Wellington is pretty small. There are a lot less crazy people in Fort Collins than Wellington, too haha. We had dinner with a less active member the other day, which was nice because it was the only meal with a member last week haha. He's older and told us some pretty crazy stories about how he planted a meth lab in the basement of some mobsters or something. Like I said, they were some crazy stories, but the way he told them made us think they might be true. Who knows? He made some good ice cream sundaes. We got trapped at a member's house for 3 hours the other day. It sucked. The member likes to brag A LOT so all we hear are the same stories over and over again. It doesn't help that he's crazy and hates it ...

Notes

We get to talk to Ethan twice per week - Tuesday and Saturday.  Since he is talking to us twice each week, he doesn't have a lot to write on p-day. I thought I would write some things he tells us that he didn't include in his letters. Sunburn: Ethan and his companion have been doing a lot of service.  A week or so ago they helped a member pull weeds for a couple of hours.  Ethan sunburns very easily so I have told him to put on sunscreen.  He said that after being in the sun for hours pulling weeds, he noticed that he wasn't sunburned at all.  He said that was a huge blessing he has seen since being out on his mission. Cookies: I have a google doc file with all our family's favorite recipes that I shared with Ethan when he went on his mission.  He uses it when they don't have dinner appointments.  He made chocolate chip cookies but they didn't have a mixer or a cookie scoop and...he mixed up Tbsp with tsp so they were really salty.  Luckily he was...

How's it going everyone! This week has been pretty boring, to be honest. We had 2 people come to our online sacrament meeting, which might sound pathetic but they were people we're teaching, and it's the most we've had so far. So that's super cool. There are 3 forest fires going on right now. They're about 50 or so miles from Wellington, so it's been pretty smoky. The sun looked red a few days ago because of the plume of smoke. Hopefully it rains so that the fires won't be as bad. We've been talking to a lot of people. My companion is a beast when it comes to talking to everyone. Whenever we see anyone outside ever, I know that we're going to talk to them. It's given me a lot of practice though. It's good to talk to you all. Have a great week! From, Ethan If you want to write to Ethan, his email is: ethan.pack@missionary.org There has been some confusion in their ward over the dinner appointment calendar.  There are 2 sets of missionari...

What's up everyone? Things have been going good here in Wellington. I've talked to a whole lot of people. For p day today, we hiked Horsetooth Rock. That was pretty fun. I got some cool pictures. It was super hot though. I've met a lot of cool people. We had dinner at a member's house. He and his wife have a really cool conversion story. They basically shared a message with us rather than us sharing a message with them. It was really testimony building. Sorry this isn't super long. I have a bunch of pictures though, so maybe that balances it out.  Thanks for all the support! Have a great week. See you next week! From, Elder Pack The mega-desk Cookie cookies

Hi everybody! I hope you're all doing good. I'm having a lot of fun here in Wellington, and I'm learning a lot. My companion and I have a few people that we've been teaching, and that's been going well. I'm glad they're progressing, because they've been being taught for a long time. A lot of it is addressing concerns they have that no one has ever talked to them about.  Wellington is a pretty small town that's about 20 minutes north of Fort Collins. A part of it's rural, and a part of it is urban. A lot of the crazier people live in the rural part haha. They definitely like to talk a lot, but what can you do? This area is really beautiful. Lots of green and rolling hills and stuff like that. The temperature is really nice, especially compared to St. George. The high is 88 or something like that, so that's a huge blessing. Things have been settling down here. I had a lot of funny things happen a week ago, but now everything is just chill. We...

We got to talk to Ethan on Saturday and he is doing well. He tried to make shrimp scampi for his companion and was a little out of practice. 😳 But at least he learned something. He said he needed a blanket and pillow so I ordered those on Amazon and had them shipped to him.  They also had a Trainers Conference in Laramie, Wyoming last week. Ethan was happy to tell us that when he goes through the temple we will be able to be there with him. That will be nice but hard to see him and have to leave again. But who knows when it will happen because the temple near him isn’t open so it may be a while.  Ethan is doing well and looks really happy. He is a scavenger and there was a bin in their apartment that had a bunch of unclaimed things in it. Ethan went through it and found a cool looking knife. The elders said it was left by the last missionary in the apartment so Ethan could keep it. He was pretty happy about that find.  His mission president’s wife usually posts pictures ...
