Elder Pack

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a good day. This is gonna be my last weekly as I head home this Thursday (not that I wrote very many weeklys haha). But I just want to say what a wonderful experience this has been. I've learned so much about my Savior Jesus Christ and myself. I know He lives and that He loves us. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and it has brought me so much closer to Jesus Christ. I love you all! Hey everyone! Thanks for the emails, packages, and letters for Ethan's birthday last week.  He said he was spoiled and appreciated being thought of. The last transfer in Ethan's mission (minus the one home) happened this week!  He stays in Windsor, CO, continuing with Elder Nichols, and continuing as a Zone Leader.  There are quite a lot of changes in their Zone but Ethan said that change is really good and he is looking forward to a shake-up of things. They had some success last week finding people to teach.  Ethan and Elder Nichols have been driving to parts of their area and then walking around.  They don't knock on doors, they just walk around and talk to whoever is outside.  They were blessed to find people to teach on Sunday and Monday just walking around.  One of them let him borrow an umbrella because it was starting to sprinkle.  When Ethan protested, the man told them that he would get it back from them at Church on Sunday.  They ar...

Hello everyone! Ethan didn't get a chance to write because he was able to go to the Fort Collins Temple!  He is on the left-hand side in the picture.  He sent us a message Monday night saying that he wouldn't be able to call first thing the next morning because he was going to the temple.  They thought they would be going later in the morning because the Greeley Zone and the Windsor Zone were both going the same day.  But, since the restrictions have been lifted, both zones could fit in the same endowment session!  They had to be at the temple by 8 am to get in the 8:30 am session.  Ethan said it was really great to be in the temple again.   He called us in the late afternoon because they also went to lunch, did their shopping, and did laundry.  But he is doing really well and is happy.   They will have a baptism this weekend and they are super excited about it.  The woman has been working hard to quit smoking and has seen...

Ethan got to call us on Christmas Day.  They had spent the morning studying, reading, and chilling.  They had been invited to dinner with a member family so Ethan called us at 2:30 pm. He and his companion were at the Church (I think the wifi is better there) and Ethan hauled all his presents to the Church. Ethan opened his presents and it was fun to see what people had given him.  Members in the ward gave him hot chocolate, cards, gift cards, and mugs.  Ethan was excited because one of the mugs was really nice.  He also got candy from family, more gift cards, money, shirts, a hat, church books, and some other things.  He was really happy about all he was given and all the Christmas cards he got.  He had fun seeing the pictures on the cards. We chatted about the weather (it's warmer there for Christmas than it was in Ivins), the caroling activity they did as a District (Ethan said one member posted a video but I can't find it), and how the work is goin...

H ey everyone!  Hope your week has been going good. Things have been good here. Nothing really notable but it's been a good week nevertheless. I figured I should share a quick scripture with you all because otherwise, this email would be too short haha. Mosiah 14:5, in the Book of Mormon, is my favorite scripture. The prophet Nephi is quoting Isaiah when he says, "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." That verse is talking about Jesus Christ and his atonement. Because of what Christ willingly went through (his stripes), we can be healed of our problems and sins.   Hey everyone! It has been a pretty great week here in Riverton.  Shawn, our miracle referral, is progressing so fast and is now on date to be baptized! Everyone please pray for him that he will continue to progress and make the right choices. We haven't even talked about the word of wisdom and he has already thrown away his vape, tobacco, and other stuff like that. His faith is so amazing!  Other than that, it has been a pretty normal week. We've been making slow but steady progress with the other people we're teaching.  On another note, we were gonna go fishing with a less active member I ran into on Facebook, but he crashed his car in Billings so we will hopefully go next week. I'm not sure what we're going to be doing today yet, but it will probably be something fun. Hopefully, haha. Thanks  for all of your support. 2020 was a pretty big year for me. To start out, in March I got my mission call to serve in the Colorado Fort Collins mission. That was something I had been waiting for for a long time. Because of Covid-19, I would end up participating in the Missionary Training Center online, instead of in-person in Provo as usual. In May, I turned 18 and graduated from high school. Right after that, on July 1st, I entered the online MTC for 3 weeks at home. From there, I served in Wellington, Colorado for 6 months until I was transferred up to Riverton, Wyoming, where I am now. 2020 was a challenging year, but I have seen a lot of blessings in my life that have come from it, including a stronger testimony that my Heavenly Father loves me. (Ethan was challenged by another elder to do the "2020 Year in Review Challenge." This was what he put on Facebook. I wanted to put it on his blog so he would always have it.)

   Hey everyone! Yesterday I had to say goodbye to Elder Unruh, my trainer and first companion. I got to stay with him for 4 and a half months! He is a great trainer and I'm sad to say goodbye. Also, I will be training as well, so if you'd like, you could include my new companion and me in your prayers. It will make a huge difference! I'm kind of nervous but excited, haha! That gratitude video that President Nelson put out was great! Gratitude really does make a difference in our thinking. I know that there are some things in our lives that we can always be grateful for, even if there is literally nothing else. Some of those include the atonement of Jesus Christ, the chance to live with our families again, and the knowledge that there is life after death, again with our families. These things, plus many others, are the eternal truths that will always exist, and that will never go away. I'm also still staying in Wellington for the next little bit at least. The work is re...
