Everyone: Ethan didn't write a general email this week so I thought I would share the pictures he sent to me and some things we talked about. Last month, Ethan's district tried to find a cave that was on the Casper mountain.  They never found it but a member in the stake went up and dropped a pin for them so they could find it the next time they looked.  They spent this p-day hiking up and exploring the cave.  I was nervous but Ethan said they "explored it in a very safe manner, so don't worry."  😉  The leaves were changing and Ethan said it was "super pretty."  I love it when he sends us pictures he has taken of nature.  He has a great eye for design. Ethan was asked to play the piano for their district conference.  He knows one hymn - Sweet Hour of Prayer - so that's what he played for them to sing.  Ethan said he did really well and they were able to sing along without a problem.  He doesn't know other hymns but he has been wo...

Hey everyone! This week was pretty great. We have been super busy and we taught a ton of lessons. So a successful week for us! We also had some cool weather as well. Casper has been great. Please say a prayer or two for Michael, Sarah, and Nicole! I'll include some pictures, including a whole bunch of pictures of the sky. Casper has some beautiful skies. Hope your week has been great! Love you all. From, Elder Pack PS.  Ethan is still doing well in Casper.  Dinner appointments have been a bit hit and miss but they have been getting good food. He has been training and is having a hard time letting his greenie struggle.  Ethan said his goal this week is to let his companion lead more so he can get experience.  Training is usually for 2 transfers and then the greenie should be ready to train another missionary.   If the greenie still needs help, Ethan said it is the responsibility of all the other missionaries to help him along.  But Ethan has found it ha...

Hey everyone! It has been a good week. I found out that I'll be staying in Casper for another transfer. That'll make 6 months here. I'm glad to be staying. I really like the people here and I'm learning a lot.  If you could be praying for Michael, he could use it. He is trying to learn about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and he could use an extra measure of the Spirit of God to help him understand. Troy, Kino, Nicole, Gus, and Todd could also use some prayers. Sorry for the short email, but things have been going good.  Thanks  for all your support.  Love, Elder Pack P.S. The third companion in Ethan's trio is being transferred so they will no longer have the minivan to drive.  Ethan is kind of bummed because the van has more oomph than the little cars do.  But the van belongs to the other area so they have to give it back. Bummer! There are a ton of new missionaries coming into the mission tomorrow so there are a lot of changes.  Ethan said there is o...

Update Talk on Ethan

I gave an update on Ethan last Sunday in Sacrament Meeting.  Here is my talk: I am grateful to be able to talk about one of my three favorite people today. Ethan was called to the Colorado Fort Collins Mission. His mission includes the northern part of Colorado, a little bit of Nebraska, and part of Wyoming (over to Martin’s Cove). He has been out for 14 months. Ethan did Home MTC for all 3 weeks and entered the mission field without having his endowments, he doesn’t knock on doors and is wearing his church shoes from before his mission.  His mission isn’t what we are used to but it is his mission, he doesn’t know any different, and he was prepared to serve it. And there are perks to a unique mission - we got three extra weeks with him during Home MTC and we went last November to Fort Collins to go through the temple with him. We talked to him on Tuesday and I asked him to tell me what he wanted me to let you know as far as an update on his life.  I didn’t want to j...

Hey Everyone, Hope you all had a great week. My week was pretty good too. We started teaching a guy named Michael. He is pretty cool and we had the chance to explain the atonement of Jesus Christ. It was great.  We had a great lesson with a guy named Enrique. We talked about the Book of Mormon and he said that he had already read it, and felt the spirit when he did. It was super  awesome ! We met some cool people this week and taught some good lessons. Thanks  for all of your support! You all are  awesome ! From, Elder Pack Elders Elkins and Foutz: PS: Ethan is in a district of all elders so it makes for an interesting p-day.  They hiked to a waterfall on Casper Mountain in the morning and then they played "Slaughter Ball" in the afternoon.  It's basically a huge game of dodgeball in the Cultural Hall but this time they turned out the lights and put a cloth over the exit signs so it would be completely dark.  Ethan said that no one got hurt and it was ...
