Hey everyone!
We got to talk to Ethan and he is doing really well. It has been a busy week for him. They had transfers last Wednesday. He is staying in Windsor but half of his zone had changes so he and his companion were up at 4:45 to get ready and get to the transfer bus. They are in charge of making sure all the missionaries in their zone are on the transfer bus with their stuff in the morning and then off the transfer bus in the afternoon with all their stuff. Ethan earned his name because he was in charge of packing all the stuff into one of the compartments under the bus. Ethan called it Tetris. He said many mentioned that he lived up to his name.
Along with transfers, Ethan and Elder Nichols had to move furniture for missionaries. One area has a trio of sisters, so they had to get them another bed. Another elder has a weight set he uses for rehab (he must have an injury) and so Ethan and his companion had to move a bunch of totes full of weights. Ethan said it was something like 400 pounds of weights to move. He doesn't know how the missionary gets away with having so much stuff because the rules are that you can have your suitcases and one tote for transfers. But they got it all moved to the missionary's new apartment.
Last week they had a lot of families in their ward who were sick, so Ethan and his companion got pizza for dinner quite a few times. Instead of having them over, people would order them pizza, which is just fine with Ethan. One family in their ward owns a Mexican restaurant and gave them coupons for free food. So they got to eat there one night. They are being well cared for by the members of their ward.
On Monday, they had Mission Leader's Conference where the mission president did the training. It was on repentance and trying to help people progress. The mission has been doing well. Last month, they had 23 baptisms, so that was great. Zone Meeting is on Wednesday so Ethan and his companion will focus on repentance and helping people keep their commitments. Ethan said that has been hard lately because they haven't been able to get people to go to church, but they are hoping to change that.
Ethan is starting to get into his "lasts" of his mission. He won't be there for the next transfer because he will come home before the transfer. So this was his last transfer to worry about. This is the last Zone Meeting and the last Zone Conference will be in a couple weeks. It's the last MLC he will attend. That is so crazy!
For p-day they were going with one district to go bowling and to lunch. Then they would go with another district to play laser tag. It sounds like a fun day. Ethan got his laundry done early so they wouldn't have anything in the way of their fun. Also, their p-day is being moved to Mondays starting next week. He didn't give details on why, so we will ask him about it next week. He is also going to Estes Park next week for p-day so that will be a lot of fun!
That's about it from Ethan. He is doing well and enjoying his mission. He is working hard and serving well. Thank you for all your support of him!
